Most organizations acknowledge the presence of diversity to some degree, but it is not clearly understood by some nor readily embraced by others. The term "diversity" itself takes on different meanings when discussed in various circles. Much of this obscurity is because the word has revolutionized over time. Historically, diversity was an expression narrowly used to identify race or gender; but today it encompasses so much more. Thus, we feel it necessary to provide our definition and subsequent position on diversity right from the start.
Diversity by definition simply means the state of being different. Conceptually speaking this encompasses the acceptance and respect of the various differences we encounter. The MAHARRIS Group appreciates the uniqueness of individuals and attributes value to their distinctiveness.
